Inspired by the out-of-the-ordinary sideplate shotgun engraving of the same namesake, the Quail Nouveau designs are now available to be shared as heirloom quality jewelry pieces as unique as the original shotgun engraving. Each piece is handcrafted in it’s entirety, no cad or casting. The 18k gold bezel is fabricated by hand using reclaimed gold, melted down and fabricated into sheet, hand cut and soldered to be reminiscent of 12g shot shell brass, the side walls raised to protect the Charcoal blued carbon steel engraved medallion. Each medallion is hand engraved and inlaid with one of the North American Quail species and inlaid with 24k Gold, Fine Silver, and Copper. The quails are then selectively french greyed after the blueing process is completed and set in the bezel. The 18” chain is fabricated link by link, by hand with .925 sterling silver links connected by 14k gold centers stamped to inspire the primer on your favorite game cartridge. Custom Chain lengths can be accomodated by special request. The back side of the bezel is hand engraved with a framing of Fountain Scroll, Melissa M. Studios’ own unique variation on traditional English Scroll. The center of this scroll framing is intentionally left open for any special requests for personalization such as monograming, messages, significant dates, symbols, etc. Please contact us directly with any special requests.

Each piece comes gift packaged in a figured walnut jewelry box stamped with the wax seal of Melissa M Studios, black velvet lining, logo cleaning cloth and care instructions for your unique piece of jewelry. While the chain may be cleaned via traditional jewelry methods, including ultrasonic and steam cleaning, the pendant requires special care to protect the traditional charcoal blued finish of the carbon steel.

These pieces will be made in a limited edition, not to exceed 10 pieces per species: Gambels, Bobwhite, Mountain, California, Scaled, and Montezuma Quail.
